Recognize concerns. Respond safely.
An introductory workplace-awareness module for organizational pilot feedback. Estimated reading time: 5 minutes.
1. Understand the issue
Human trafficking involves exploitation, and may involve coercion, deception, threats or abuse of vulnerability. Exploitation can take place in workplaces and other settings. A single observation cannot establish whether trafficking has occurred.
2. Notice possible concerns
Possible indicators may include threats, restricted freedom of movement, withheld wages or identity documents, or fear of speaking freely. These are prompts to seek qualified guidance, not evidence sufficient to accuse someone.
3. Respond responsibly
Prioritize immediate safety. Do not confront a suspected exploiter or investigate on your own. Follow your organization's safeguarding procedures and contact qualified support services. In an immediate emergency in Finland, call 112.
